Intro

The cemetery levels maintenance popup can be found under the Utilities dropdown by clicking on "Add layer/space maintenance".

Create and manage sections, blocks, lots and spaces in your cemetery using the cemetery levels maintenance popup. From the top navigation bar, click "Utilities", then click "Add layer/space maintenance" from the dropdown list.

If your cemetery is new and you opted to not migrate data, when you first login to CIMS the cemetery levels maintenance popup will open automatically. You will need to create at least 1 section before you can add data to CIMS.

What is a level?

A level is a way CIMS organizes the physical parts of your cemetery. Think of it like a group, or a container. Most cemeteries have four levels: Sections, blocks, lots and spaces. Section levels contain block levels, block levels contain lot levels, and lot levels contain spaces.

Some cemeteries will only have three levels, section, block and space.

If your cemetery uses terms other than "section", "block", "lot" and "space", you can change them on a per-section basis.

Create a section, block or lot

This cemetery is planning a new section! They clicked the "Add new section" button, then filled in some data. It has 4 blocks, 6 lots in each block, and 4 spaces per lot. In total, they will create 96 spaces. When ready, they'll click "Save new section".

Creating a section, block or lot is very similar:

• Section: Click the navy "Add new section" button at the top of the cemetery levels maintenance popup.
• Block: First click on the section the lot will belong to, which expands the section to show its blocks. Click the navy "Add block" button that will appear to the right of the section name.
• Lot: First click the section, then block the lot will belong to. Click the navy "Add lot" button that will appear to the right of the block name.

From here, fill in the blank input fields that will appear. For larger screens, these will be on the right half of the popup. For smaller screens, they will be at the top.

When adding a new section, you can choose to add multiple blocks and lots to this section at one time. Specify the number of blocks, number of lots, and how many spaces each lot contains. Choose what letter or number the blocks, lots, and spaces will start with, the space type, and an optional space cost, then click "Save new section".

The process is very similar for blocks and lots. If you mess up, it's easy to delete parts of your cemetery and start over! Read below for information about deleting sections, blocks, lots and spaces.

Create one or more spaces

This cemetery is adding 3 new spaces to lot 1 of block C in section MG-2024. This lot already has 6 spaces, so they specified they want these new spaces to start with the number "7".

You can choose to create one space or multiple at a time.

• First, use the list to navigate to the lot where you want to add the space(s). Click the navy "Add space" button to the right of the lot name.
• Fill in the blank input fields that will appear. For larger screens, these will be on the right half of the popup. For smaller screens, they will be at the top.
• Choose "Single" to create just one space, or "Multiple" for multiple.
  • If choosing single, you can specify the name of the space.
  • If multiple, you will be asked for the total number of spaces and what number or letter to start the spaces at.
• Choose a space type and status. If you choose "Sold", "Reserved" or "Restricted", additional fields will appear with information you will need to fill in. The space's cost is optional.
• Click "Save new space" when done.

Rename a section, block, lot or space

Click the blue pencil-and-paper icon next to a section, block, lot or space. Type in the new name into the input box that appears, then click "Save".

To rename a section, block, lot or space, use the list on the left side of the cemetery levels maintenance popup to navigate to the section/block/lot/space you want to rename. Click the blue pencil-and-paper icon just to the right of its name. An input box will appear; type in the new name, then click "Save".

Delete sections, blocks, lots or spaces

Be careful when deleting sections, blocks, lots or spaces! This also deletes any information contained within them, such as burials, markers, images, and more. When in doubt, call tech support for help!

Whoa! This cemetery is about to delete 72 spaces! They better check to make sure these spaces don't have important data before they delete the spaces, because any burials, images, owner information, etc. will all be deleted as well.

Deleting a section, block, lot or space is suspiciously easy. Be very careful, because this can be an extremely destructive activity!

Click the checkbox next to the pen-and-pencil icon to the right of the name of the section, block, lot or space you want to delete. Information will appear specifying exactly how much you will be deleting; for larger screens, this information will be on the right half of the popup. For smaller screens, this will be at the top.

If you're sure you want to delete these spaces, and all of their information they contain, click "Delete selected". A popup will ask you to confirm; click "Ok".

Rename cemetery levels

Does your cemetery use the term "Grave" instead of "Space"? or "Area" instead of "Section"? You can personalize the terms used by your section-by-section, as well as change the default terms. Refer to our documentation on renaming cemetery levels.
